McLoughlin Point – Salish Sea site of new Waste Water Treatment Plant
Note from Jacques Sirois The two existing outfalls are off Clover Point and Macaulay Point, as you may know. The “sewage” plumes usually extend for 100s of metres in the direction of the flooding and ebbing tides. Sampling the water column in Victoria Upper, Inner and Middle Harbour might also be interested. Despite cleanups, the worst sediment contamination in coastal BC still occurs there. It would be interesting to determine water quality - probably quite good because of constant tidal flush - near and above these extremely polluted sediments.
